Next week the history and art of our Chai Adam Mural will be featured at the important International Workshop on Synagogue Wall Paintings at the Center for Jewish Art (Hebrew University) in Jerusalem. Art/History advisor Dr. Samuel Gruber will present on the mural and also chair some sessions of the 2-day conference.
More than ever before this conference puts the Lost Shul Mural in the context of Eastern European synagogue wall painting and its fate in the Holocaust. Perhaps in a future year we might organize a conference in Burlington focused on the mural’s North American immigrant context! For a program of the CJA workshop see:http://cja.huji.ac.il/wpc/pics/New-5.pdf
The workshop coincides with the now-online but still in progress catalogue of Eastern European Synagogue Wall Painting compiled over many years by researchers at the Center. http://cja.huji.ac.il/wpc/browser.php?mode=enter
